At the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst—which combines US Air Force, Army and Navy facilities—five miles of fiber optic cable was installed to meet the growing bandwidth needs and comply with telecommunications infrastructure guidelines. The project required leveling land and removing some vegetation and trees with some sections installed underground. Connections were also made at the band output points, which required fitting 12 buildings out with multiple network connection panels.
