About Us

Founded in 2006

Eduardo Guzman & Robert Benson; an engineer and an architect who understand that high-performance could only be achieved by applying fully integrated multidisciplinary design, construction and maintenance expertise to every project.

Eduardo Guzman and Robert Benson

2007-2009

They took a chance on their idea and moved to Camden, New Jersey, renting space at Rutgers University's Business School Small Business Incubator after leaving their design firms. However, the 2008 financial crisis devastated the company. By early 2009, they had no staff and had nearly lost their life savings. Though they considered closing and filing for bankruptcy, their accountant convinced them to keep going, and they committed fully to saving the business.

At about the same time they obtained their first contract with the Federal Government, a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The work received rave reviews and the business concept proved to be an effective one.

Today

Since that first federal project, DCM has transformed into a global, award-winning design firm providing services for the federal government, hospitality, mixed-use, not-for-profit, commercial and transportation markets with projects across the continental United States and in over 14 countries. As of 2026 we are now celebrating 20 years of DCM
